Toddler Approved Green Smoothie

I started to make this smoothie as a mid - afternoon treat but it has soon become a regular part of breakfast in our home!

In the mornings, I always make a smoothie for myself as I am getting ready for work and the boys started to catch on. So it got added on to our morning routine. I love that everyday I know that they are getting at least one good serving of greens in their diet. Since like most toddlers, we have trouble making sure they eat all of their vegetables during lunch and dinner.

This is also a great smoothie for mom! Although I do think it's a little sweet with the fruit juice (we usually use the Orange, Pineapple, Banana juice blend from WholeFoods). So if you want to make for yourself, replace with just almond milk and you can also water down a little bit. It is an easy way to keep yourself fueled during the day, especially if you are one who forgets or has little time to eat!

[Toddler Approved] Green Smoothie

Ingredients

1 Cup Spinach (Organic)

1 Cup Frozen Strawberries (Organic)

1 Banana

4 Tablespoons Vanilla Yogurt (You can also use Greek, just be sure it is organic, non hormone dairy products; we like to use the Wallaby brand or StonyField Organic)

1/2  Cup Almond Milk

1/3 Cup Fruit Juice of Choice

1 Tablespoon Flax Meal

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in high speed blender.

Makes 1 Serving. I split the one serving for my boys (they each get 1/2 a serving).

Side note: our boys are only 20 months and use sippy cups. It has taken some time to find one that works for the smoothie but these work great!
